001 - Us, Explained

"Donating Differently has been a project I've been sitting on for a while.  It was an idea that hadn't come to any fruition due to a few things, but mostly my fear of failure.  Recently I've started to realize that my yearning to do good (to whatever magnitude that may be), needs to trump the fear of potentially failing".

Who are we?

We provide a platform for photographers to use their photos to impact charitable organizations, via the selling of prints.  Donating Differently, true to the name, serves to help people donate differently.

Step 1: Photographers donate their work and "sponsor" a charitable organization that has meaning to them.

Step 2: We sell, create and ship the prints from these photographers to the public.

Step 3: 100% of the proceeds from the sales go to the organization that the photographer chose.

We want to make it easy to give.  We want to give options for how you give.  We want you to make a difference and bring awareness to causes that you're passionate about.  We want to bring prints with awesome stories behind them into people's homes.

"Okay, neat. What's next?"

This fall we'll be launching a Thunderclap campaign.  Thunderclap is a crowd-speaking platform, where instead of backing a project monetarily (like Kickstarter), you connect your social media accounts.  If you reach your supporter goal, then a timed Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr post is sent out.  That's the gist of it, but we'll get into more of that later.

In the mean time we're offering a tangible way to get involved.  Simply follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our newsletter below. We promise not to annoy you.  If we reach 100 followers, we'll send you a free print in the mail.  Win-win, right?
